Heart, Head, Hustle

My hustle is my business.  I believe in providing value for a company or a person to improve on what they will potentially become.  I get a kick out of seeing people realize their behaviors and make a change. Their realization may be very minuscule, but I feel it and, I hope it changes them for the better.  When I coach someone or an organization on improving or changing their mindset, I begin to change myself.

I used to thwart evaluation and criticism.  I realize now that it’s feedback.  (I will include on a future blog on how to give empowering feedback and not a destructive feedback,) Feedback is essential after every session and valuable for my next sessions.  Always changing, always improving.

My best way of describing this change is the black dress analogy:  the black dress looks great on you, and when you dress up with the right jewelry (https://www.chloeandisabel.com/boutique/vince) , you shine and sparkle a little bit more.  Same person…enhanced by their beauty.

Along with this hustle, I will use my heart and my head.  My friend Sean Hookano-Briel with Comprendio Inc. (https://www.comprendio.co/) use this tag for their business.  Tweet and post #heartheadhustle

I’m getting better at using my intuition when I’m meeting with a client.  I need to use my head more when it comes to payment processing and offering too much for free.  I use my head to strategizing the best training system for your organization.

I use my heart when I hustle and depend on all the people that support me on this new journey of creating a life that was always waiting for me. Now, I pray before I go into a meeting and pray after a meeting with a client.  I ask God if this is His will, then help me to provide value for this organization or person.

Thankful vs. Thoughtful

Being grateful and being kind are different processes but can be incorporated with each other.  Gratitude comes in many forms:  a thank you note, recognizing a person for their contribution in a group or tagging them on Facebook, or the reliable goody bag at the end of an event.  Thoughtfulness is similar to thanking by sending a note to say I’m thinking about you, lifting someone up, or giving a person an omiyage (a gift to bring back to family and friends when you have traveled).

I admit it; I am not good at writing in my thankfulness journal.  Honestly, I have written only three things that I am thankful for in that journal.  I have heard that if you write down ten things that you were thankful for that day, you are a much happier person and content with your life. I do pray every day and thank God for three things – the people that I have met, the people I am going to meet, and the people that I will never meet.  He knows the people that He will place in my life are people that will need the gifts that He has given me.

At times I have been thoughtful and thoughtless.  I catch myself and assert what I think people should know, or I’ve been a real jerk and dismissed the person from collaborating with me and missed a golden opportunity.

Sometimes I surprise that person in such a way that I didn’t think my thoughtfulness made a difference.  After 27 years one example has stood out for me. I used to send birthday cards to a lot of people before good old Facebook. I barely knew this person but found out his birthday and his address.  He was amazed and was thankful for that one small act of thoughtfulness.  I didn’t expect anything in return.  I don’t think he knew my birthday or my address.  At that age, everything was freely given, and I wasn’t guarded.

Life happened, and my thankfulness and thoughtfulness have changed.  I think I am more thankful and less thoughtful.  I want to work on having both equal and abundant and not be in competition with one another.

I am thankful for you my readers and joining me on this journey…..

Happy Bosses Day- first day of being my own boss

Today was my first day being an entrepreneur and creating my own business.  Started my day as a mom making breakfast for my son (I have not done this in 12 years) and finding medicine for my poor husband.  Then jumped in on checking on my emails, seeing if there were sales with the Chloe + Isabel site, and organizing my calendars (white board, monthly planner, and electronic).  Right now, I’m listening to a training on the John Maxwell Team site while writing this blog and organizing my home office. Yes, I am a serial multi-tasking madwoman.

I wanted to do something a little different today – making sure my son was fed before going to school and not wasting my life in 1 to 1 1/2 hours of traffic going to an office.  I also wanted to something similar to a work day – review, build, and plan. I have had this practice since I started working at 15 years old at the Pacific Missile Range Facility.  I forgot the wonderful woman’s name that mentored me in that office but I still make awesome office coffee and seal multiple envelopes at the same time.

If anyone is interested, I will start a Zoom virtual workshop on achieving your dreams. Please email me: bambooshoothi@gmail.com.
